On my Second Month SL'ed

Here are some pictures of my 2nd Month.....My Retightening took right at about 4 hours plus a little..i'm on a 4 week schedule..and i'm directed to wash every single week.


I like the neatness of the retights but i LOVE the thickness after the washing...also I LOVE the uniformity or direction of the retight and i like the randomness after the wash...go figure?!! lol


Still getting good compliments about my hair....everyone is saying "oooh it's gonna look even better when its longer"- group consensus....lol.....ENJOY!

My first month- SL'ed

Hello to my Sisterlocked Sisters, Locked Sisters, Natural Sisters and Brotherlocked and Locked Brothers, and to my relaxed/processed and Weaved and Braided Sisters AND Brothers...and anyone else I failed to mention.....LOL...that felt like a church intro


Either way, I have been super busy with work and school and life so I haven't been able to get on here like I wanted to update. It's been a little over a month....everyone says they can see GROWTH...i'm still looking for it!....I'm getting kinda "iffy" about my hair..i'm not really sure what its supposed to be DOING if anything at this point...I am LOVING the idea of the getting up and going in the mornings...i mean i do make sure i'm not looking like who-dun-it but its sooo much easier!


I have my official FULL retightening session this weekend and I'm super excited....I find myself educating people DAILY about my hair....i'm really wondering if i need to take the Sisterlocks COURSE....i'm sooo serious!!! I talk more about my hair than i do anything else...and people want them, but no one in my area is available...hmmmmm


I've washed my hair several times and a few of my microlocks have come out..about 4 i think in the front and back maybe but you can't tell....i'm sooo ready for some length to kick in...everyone is still raving about how GOOD my hair looks and i'm thinking its looking kinda ugghhh....people are still not understanding i'm locking my hair and keep asking "when are you gonna take them down"...wth!?!!!


some days i still have the initial shocked feeling of OH MY GOD...I'VE LOCKED MY HAIR....then i smile!!! lol...some people still look at my hair and WONDER.......but so far not one bad compliment!!! This is the life!

Week 1 of being Sisterlocked

Hello..this week has been SUPER CRAZY!!! I need "Top Flight Security" to keep the people off of me! Everyone is IN LOVE with my hair. So instead of re-living my entire week I will post some of the comments i've gotten and some of the general responses people gave with regards to my hair!


- OMG are they tiny braids?


- Did you sit and do those yourself?


- What are these?


- That looks SO GOOD!


- I really like that on you!


- THOSE are Sisterlocks?? 


- I want my hair like THAT!


- Who did your hair??


- It is sooo pretty!!


- Can I look/see it/touch it?

- I know they will be pretty when it grows longer!

My initial feelings on being SISTERLOCKED

Day 1 10-1-10 started at 716 am and lasted until 916 pm with a one hour break total. The sides and front are complete. The babies are so small and look so helpless but they are strong and beautiful. Apart of me is in transition to the fact that I’m being installed. It really hasn’t hit me yet that I’m gonna be OFFICIALLY SISTERLOCKED this time tomorrow. There came a point where I wondered if I needed to second guess my decision, if I needed to make another decision, if I needed to NOT do this and honestly the answer  was and is no. I have never been so sure about a decision and process in my life. October is a month of new beginnings for me. I declare that for the entire 31 days God will overly bless and empower me. Today was an excellent start. I even wondered if hair really had as much power or “pull” as we claim it to do. The crowning glory of a woman is her hair and I immediately thought of Sampson and how his hair was a symbol and direct line of strength thru God. I refuse to let any Delilah’s distract me from this vision of Hair Freedom and Life.  I feel grown up. I feel empowered. I feel beautiful. I feel exquisite. I feel so natural. Never again will I sit for unended hours getting my hair tugged and pulled and harassed for an end result that still doesn’t make me COMPLETELY satisfied. I already feel satisfied with Sisterlocks. I know hair has many meanings for different people and locks have another set of meanings. To me my hair is just a small portion of the person I am. It is my prop. It is my evidence to going against the grain. It is my desire to lock myself into more of God the way it was originally intended. My life has definitely changed and I can already feel it and my hair only tells one part of the story. The babies are so unique. Two toned. 1.5 to 2 inches. Pattern 4. Curly q’s at the ends. They appear to draw strength from being around each other. I almost have a fear that if I touch them or pull them it will come out…literally from the scalp…a notion we have from traditional hair extension products. Two words about my consultant: PROFESSIONAL and SKILLED. I’m comfortable and feel secure with her technique on my hair. The finality and gravity of this choice I made is slowly making sense. And I like the end result. This Sister is LOCKED!

Day 2 10-2-10 started at 809 am and lasted until 303 pm. I am completely finished. I have NO IDEA how many baby locks I have. After counting 10 of them I quit LOL. I feel great. I feel gorgeous. I am those things. I really haven’t had the unnecessary urge to obsessively touch or play with them. I haven’t done a THOROUGH flo-inspection. I’m at peace. I’m not worried. I’m in no rush. I feel confident that they are completely fine and already mature enough to stand alone (with my guarded supervision). I am trying to prepare myself for the many questions and requests about what they are and if they can be touched. I don’t know if I’m ready for THAT portion of it yet. I actually did it….oh em gee!!!

The FINAL Countdown

See the attached VLOG. Here are some pics of the kinky twists i wore for the past 4-6 weeks until i got my needed 1.5-2 inches of natural new growth! I also wore comb coils for a weekend (LOL) but thats just to compare how traditional locks would have started in my hair had i chose that option. Finally here I am wearing my TWA for the LAST TIME as i know it!!!

Sisterlocks....ALMOST THERE!!!- The consultation

OK i've been quite busy since my last post!!! Sadly to say i am NOT installed as i had planned. I mistakenly miscalculated my hair length in the back *uuuggghhh*....i was measuring my sides and front to determine if i had the 1.5 inches....lucky for me i only need half an inch to be installed....so here is the story of my consultation....


So i drive to ATL to meet with my wonderful consultant Taiysha Brown http://www.medialinkx.com/sisterlocks//  when i say she is WONDERFUL AND PROFESSIONAL..oh em gee....so either way...i go thru the process of talking and questions/answers, watching videos, etc...then she tells me that i'm short half an inch in the back area....can we say HEARTBREAK HOTEL....lol


So she installs 4 test locks...i decided on the small size which would be close to 600 locks when fully installed according to her...here are pics

So i rescheduled a new install date for Oct 1-2, 2010...and decided if i DON'T have the half inch needed then i'd need to push it back again.....you know i really want that half inch!!!...i left my consultant disappointed, but encouraged knowing that i'm still making a good decision and i'm still gonna be locked soon. She pointed out that some ppl would have installed me with my current length, but i would have problems when it came time to washing and the locks unraveling with time/manipulation...I appreciated her professional opinion and integrity for not trying to scam me! LOL

Soooooooo....i left renewed and decided that i'll just get my hair braided to pass the time, help with the needed growth and to just get something different...i knew at this point i would have to explain to everyone when i got back home why i didnt return with SISTERLOCKS....lol....so i went to one of the many African Braid Shops and got some small sized kinky twists....pic below:

Sooo i apologize for not having the finished product....in 6 weeks i'll be MORE THAN READY! I'm claiming it LOL....but the journey continues and i won't be led astray...I'm embracing the new change that starts in October...so many things in my life will be different and finalized and SL's would be just the thing i need to make everything concrete!....Be Blessed!

Sisterlocks...the countdown begins!!

Hello to all.....i will refrain from doing a video log at this time due to my increased stuffiness and red eyes etc...but on August 13-15 i will be getting my Sisterlocks Consult and Install!!! I get special concessions for the quick turnaround since i'm traveling to ATL to get them installed. After much research and deliberation i decided on letting Ms. Taiysha perform her expertise!!

Hello to everyone!

My sincere apologies for not posting ANYTHING over the past few weeks. I have had some personal things that had to be taken care of and then when i decide to record/post a video my wonderful camera decides to FREEZE *uugggghhh*...i am working diligently on restoring my video services as i have some interesting things to VLOG about!!!

In the mean time i have posted a few pics of my recent hair growth. I have about 1.5 inches of hair now. My new nappy goal is to have Sisterlocks installed. I know i can get them installed with this length of hair but i want to go for at least 2 inches!!! I'm sooo excited!! Thanks again for everything!

Hello my friends...just wanted to let you know that i officially started VLOGGING on youtube!!! I have my first few videos posted! There are not high quality but its the best i could do for my first time...i normally don't like doing videos *blank stare...lol*...but i still have to learn  all the ins and outs of high quality VLOGGING...

Either ways let me tell you it is not as easy as it sounds....i swear i did about 15 videos for my intro VLOG..lol...then i didn't want to read off a script and i didnt want to seem like i was rambling...lol...it was fun and exhilirating to see myself with the finished product...even putting the video together with the title and credits etc was fun...

I've opened the door for ppl to get a glimpse of my life regarding my Natural Hair Journey...i just want to be myself and hopefully entertain and empower and encourage anyone watching...i don't want the blog/vlog that ppl skip over or unsubscribe from but rather one where ppl can relate and respect what i'm trying to portray...
